Well kinda, it’s the Academy Award fashion edition!!! I’ve loved a lot of Oscar dresses over the years. Some sleek and sequined, some with ball gown silhouettes and feathers, some with trains and some with a halter-neck. They all have one thing in common…they are showstoppers.
Some of my favorites in years past include the orange Vera Wang dress Charlize Theron wore in 2000 as a presenter, the Celine Dion deconstructed backwards white pantsuit from 1999, the chartreuse dream Nicole Kidman wore by John Galliano two years earlier and the sexy ball gown hybrid Halle Barry wore by Ellie Saab to accept her Best Actress nomination in 2002.
There were so many good dresses this year it was hard to pick my favorites but here’s my top five:
Hailee Steinfeld in Ralph & Russo Couture
Ava DuVarney in Ashi Studio
Brie Larson in Oscar de le Renta
Viola Davis in Armani Prove
Emma Stone in Givenchy Haut Couture
Octavia Spencer in Marchessa
Top Three Men:
Dwayne Johnson in a gorgeous blue velvet suit jacket
Andrew Garfield in literally the most perfect Christian Dior tuxedo look I have ever seen
Mahershala Ali in a black on black on black tuxedo look from Ermenegildo Zegna
Dakota Johnson (who I normally love) wearing a gold Gucci gown that not only aged her but washed her out. Nice try through…
Oscar night gives all filmmakers a sense of wonder so who knows maybe one day we can spill the tea over my Oscar dress…
